Deliquescent Desiccant Consumption

Single tower deliquescent dryers require no electricity or fuel to operate. The power is in special Van Air desiccants known as deliquescents. These non-toxic tablets gradually dissolve within the dryer vessel and must be periodically replenished, in most cases only several times per year. The following online tool estimates the amount of deliquescent desiccant that will be consumed over time. Simply input the average flow in SCFM expected at the dryer inlet, the number of hours per year of expected dryer operation, and the desiccant grade being used. The estimated annual consumption of desiccant will be displayed.

Van Air Systems offers three grades of deliquescent desiccant. Dry-O-Lite® establishes a 55% relative humidity within the compressed air line, which equates to a dew point approximately 20°F lower than the compressed air temperate at the dryer inlet. SP™ establishes a 33% relative humidity within the compressed air line, yielding a dew point depression of up to 30°F. 10BF™ delivers a 13% relative humidity, or a dew point nearly 60°F lower than the compressed air inlet temperature.
