LAKE CITY, PA, USA -- Top Blasting and Painting Contractor uses Blast Pak to Eliminate Compressed Air Moisture Problems.
Bob Kimery, owner of Kimery Painting in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, has been in the blasting and painting business for more than thirty years. Kimery offers portable blasting and painting services to customers in the power generation, manufacturing, refining, and process industries.
For a long time Kimery fought a losing battle against wet compressed air. Kimery says that water in his compressed air lines caused excessive down-time, clogged blast pots, spoiled finishes, and damaged paint guns. Wet compressed air meant lost productivity and higher operating costs.
Several years ago Kimery learned about the Blast Pak from Van Air Systems. The Blast Pak is a skid mounted, fully portable compressed air cooling and drying system. The Blast Pak requires no electricity or outside power for operation. The Blast Pak is manufactured in 5 sizes to match common CFM ratings of tow-behind diesel air compressors.
Kimery now operates several Blast Paks and reports that wet compressed air is a thing of the past. He says that with the use of dryers from Van Air Systems productivity is up and operating costs are down. For example, Kimery estimates that blasting with dry compressed air reduces the consumption of blast media by 10%.
Kimery also says that the elimination of moisture in air lines saves on equipment wear and tear. He says that his large 6-8 ton blast pots, with replacement costs of nearly $30,000 each, are no longer contaminated with liquid water and subject to premature corrosion. And Kimery’s Plural Component Sprayers, which cost up to $52,000, have held up much better with the protection provided by the Blast Pak.
