Dryer Design Single upright pressure vessel. Rated capacities up to 16,000 SCFM Two independent systems— air and refrigerant. Air system consists of 2 heat exchangers in sequence with a separator and/or auto drain. Refrigerant system includes a compressor, condenser and regulating valves. Capacities to 25,000 SCFM. Two vertical vessels are filled with desiccant and interconnected with piping and equipped with valves to control direction of air flow. Standard capacities to 10,000 SCFM. Larger custom units available.

Operating Principles Air enters lower central area of the vessel where large droplets and solid particles are mechanically separated. As the air moves upward though the desiccant bed, moisture is absorbed by the tablets. The water and dissolved desiccant drop to the claim area, which can be drained manually or automatically. Entering air is pre-cooled in first heat exchanger before entering the second heat exchanger for final cooling. Heat from the air is transferred to the cool refrigerant. Condensed moisture is trapped and discharged through an auto drain. One tower receives wet compressed air, which flows through the desiccant bed. Moisture is trapped in the pores of the desiccant. Simultaneously, desiccant in the off-line tower is being regenerated. Accumulated moisture is driven from the desiccant by heat, steam, and/or a purge of dry air diverted from the on-line tower.
