Customers have long asked us if we rent compressed air dryers.  The inquiries come from both end-users and many of our valued distributors.  We’ve been in the business of manufacturing and selling portable compressed air dryers, but until recently we’d never offered these air dryers for rent.

An application for a portable dryer rental often involves an industrial plant where a maintenance outage is planned.  The maintenance outage requires that a stationary electric air compressor and air dryer be shut down for service.   During such an outage most plants still need clean, dry compressed air.  The solution is renting  a portable air compressor and renting an air dryer.  Sometimes plant air systems outages are not planned.  Unfortunately catastrophic equipment failures do occur.  If an existing stationary air dryer suddenly fails, the plant maintenance staff will be looking for a rental dryer in a hurry.

We also see applications for rental dryers in the natural gas market.  Before a new natural gas pipeline is put on stream it must be hydrostatically tested to insure the pipeline is safe to operate at high pressures.  This process involves filling sections of the pipeline with high pressure water.  After testing the construction contractor drains as much water as possible.  Yet the pipeline still contains moisture.  This moisture will contaminate the product that will eventually flow through the pipeline.  To make sure the pipeline is completely free of moisture portable rental air compressors and portable rental regenerative air dryers are brought in to dry out the pipeline.  Pipelines are often cleaned and  inspected as will with pipeline inspection gauges (PIGS).  These PIGS are propelled through the pipeline with high pressure compressed air.  Again dry compressed air is essential for this operation, so rental compressors and dryers are put in place to get the job done.

Starting in 2014 we’ll say yes whenever a customer calls to ask, “Do you rent air dryers?”

The dryer series we manufacturer for the rental market is called the Prep40.  Follow the link below to visit the Prep40 product page, where you’ll find brochures, dimensional drawings, and operation manuals:

https://www.vanairsystems.com/Portable-Dryers/prep-40-series.html

Each Prep40 consists of a heatless regenerative dryer, pre- and post-filtration, and a cooler with pneumatic fan motor.  The system is plug-and-plug, with all the necessary accessories and controls to deliver -40 dew point compressed air.

Our new fleet of Prep40 portable regenerative rental dryers consists of units that match the most common diesel portable air compressor ratings.  The rental dryer sizes we currently offer are 400, 800, & 1600 SCFM.  As with many compressed air dryers, these ratings are for an operating pressure of 100 PSIG.  When operating at a higher pressure the rating of the dryer increases.

The primary location of our dryer rental fleet is at the headquarters in Lake City, PA.   We also have rental dryers staged at satellite locations in the Mid-Atlantic region and the upper Midwest.

The dryer rental dryer program we currently have in place is available to all Van Air Systems distributors.  We offer distributors competitive discounts on rental rates.  If you’re one of our distributors, the availability of this rental dryer program is a new opportunity for you to bring in new revenue.

If you need to rent a dryer please contact our team at Van Air Systems with the details of your application.  Call us at 1-800-840-9906 or e-mail us at info@vanairsystems.com
