As fate would have it there are two companies named Van Air.  There’s Van Air Systems.  Compressed air dryers, filters, desiccants, and air treatment accessories.  That’s us.  And there’s also Van Air Manufacturing.  Power take off air compressors for service trucks.  That’s them.

It’s an occasional source of confusion, having two companies with similar names both serving the compressed air industry.  We receive each other’s RFQs, parts requests, and receivables.  Just last week I received a phone call from one of our distributors looking for a part for a “Van Air” air compressor.  Sorry, I had to tell him.  Van Air Systems doesn’t make air compressors.  Call the other guys.  They’re located in Michigan City, Indiana.  Their website is www.vanair.com.

It is not surprising that Van Air Systems gets confused with the other Van Air.  We both serve portable and mobile compressed air markets.  Mobile compressed air treatment is a market niche we’ve been targeting for the last several years.  We have a few products that are especially well suited to the needs of mobile compressed air drying and filtering.

Our Blast Pak series line is a portable plug and play package that includes an after-cooler with an air motor, a dryer, and filter on a rugged fork lift skid.  The Blast Pak is used by sandblasting and painting contractors who realize that moisture in compressed air can clog their blast pots and compromise the painting process.  The contractor that uses the Blast Pak eliminates costly re-work & downtime that will result from wet compressed air. The Blast Pak product line is available in sizes that pair with portable air compressors ranging from 250 scfm thru 1600 scfm. Also, there is no power required to operate the Blast Pak, simply hook up the discharge air hose from your compressor to the inlet of the Blast Pak and connect a hose to the outlet of the Blast Pak and you are ready to work.

We also offer another portable compressed air treatment series called the Prep 40.  This package includes an after-cooler w an air motor, bulk liquid separator, pre-filter, heatless dryer, and afterfilter mounted on a sled type forklift skid. The only power required is 115/1/60 to run the timer and solenoid valves.  We designed this product to be “rental tough”.  A Prep 40 dryer is intended for mobile and temporary jobs where the application calls for a -40⁰ F dew point.  Typical applications include back-up plant air for refineries, pharmaceutical companies, power plants or any industrial facility that requires high purity compressed air.  These facilities typically have stationary dryers, but when that equipment goes down for planned maintenance or an emergency outage, a rental dryer needs to be brought in.  Another application for the Prep 40 is in the pipeline construction and maintenance industry.  Pipelines often need to be dewatered and dried to a specified dew point prior to commissioning.  The Prep 40 is a must have for this service.  Van Air Systems has a rental fleet of portable Prep 40 dryers available in size ranges up to 1600 SCFM.  We also sell new Prep 40 dryers through a network of distributors and rental industry partners.

It is nice that we have great name recognition in the compressed air industry, so much so that when a customer asks for a Van Air product or part we get a fair number of phone calls for the “other” Van Air.

Because everyone at Van Air Systems is focused on customer service we gladly point them in the right direction to help out.
